About Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre

Located in Shek Kip Mei, Kowloon, JCCAC is a factory-turned multidisciplinary artist village and arts centre. Opened in 2008, JCCAC is dedicated to meet the arts community’s need for affordable arts studio and display facilities, nurture young creative talents for Hong Kong and provide a relaxed environment for the public to experience arts and culture.

Spread over 200,000 square feet across nine storeys, this vertical artist village is the operation base for around 140 artists and cultural organisations of a wide array of art forms, including visual arts, applied arts, performing arts, as well as various services and artisanal crafts such as guqin manufacturing, puppetry, and arts for disability, to name a few. JCCAC dedicates about a quarter of its studio units to nurture emerging artists.

JCCAC is a self-financed registered charity and Hong Kong Baptist University’s subsidiary. Its regular public events include the annual JCCAC Festival, quarterly Handicraft Fair, rooftop film screenings and public guided tours. For information on current and upcoming programmes, please visit the JCCAC website, digital programme listing “JCCAC Happenings”, or subscribe to JCCAC e-news.

SUPPORT

JCCAC supports local arts development primarily by providing arts studio and exhibition facilities, please visit our website for information on tenant artists. JCCAC actively seeks different channels to support tenant artists to aid their creative success, in a bid to contribute to the long-term arts development of Hong Kong; including the launch of “Professor Mayching Kao Arts Development Fund” in 2008 to subsidise and encourage tenant artists to present artistic projects locally and overseas, with a goal to widen their network and experience. Visit www.jccac.org.hk for information on tenant artists and programmes.

With the aim to widen audience spectrum, JCCAC actively seeks to develop new platform with collaborators to showcase works by tenant artists. The Centre has presented solo exhibitions by budding artists in prime locations of Hong Kong, connect artists with fellow local and international professionals in the field, and showcase works by veteran artists to the general public.

EDUCATION

JCCAC is devoted to the promotion of arts in the community, and empowering the youth to experience arts and culture in Hong Kong. With the sustaining support by partners such as the Sham Shui Po District Office, every year JCCAC provides arts workshops and other activities to around 10,000 students in the district, facilitating direct interaction with practicing artists, and in turn shorten the distance between arts and the people.
