Dance Solo and Sharing by Lau Pak Hong
When the desire of being understood goes astray
The hardwired fear of disconnection is triggered
Whether it’s a discharge of discomfort or expression of passion
Ruminate, ruminate, ruminate…
To speak or not to speak, that is the tug of war between shame and vulnerability.

Pak-Hong Lau
Pak Hong Lau is a freelance dance artist, accountant, POLESTAR® Pilates Mattress instructor. He started his career in KPMG after his master studies in Physics in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Following his
artistic interest, he completed the Diploma in Dance Studies in Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and the Bachelor of Arts in Dance in the Cologne University of Music and Dance. He collaborated, as a dancer artist and choreographer, with different artists and ensembles including DanceArt, Y-Space, TS Crew, Folded Paper Dance and Theatre, E-Side Dance Company, Passover Dance, Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection, Make a Move Collective, MichaelDouglas Collective and Kammeroper Köln. He also engages in different performing art forms such as singing and acting. He participated as a tenor in chorus in productions with Opera Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
Lau is interested in the body’s functionality and expressiveness. He explores different somatic practices, including Taichi, Xingyiquan, Feldenkrais Method, Alexander Technique and Gyrokinesis etc. He is eager to share his knowledge and taught classes in dance, improvisation and body awareness in Hevolution, The
Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong and New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association. He believes learning and exchanging of these practices enrich the body mind connection as well as allow the “artistic” and “functional” perspectives of movement to feed each other so that he could fulfil his vision of connecting with people, developing a set of creative methodologies and movement vocabularies as well as promoting the well-being of body and mind.
